We provide free education about business energy for people working in small and medium-sized organisations. Our resources are available to everyone.
Understanding business energy
Business energy involves unfamiliar charges, contract terms and rules. Our role is to explain the general principles so readers can understand the information in front of them and ask better questions.
The material is relevant to owners, finance teams, procurement staff and people responsible for buildings or equipment. Readers do not need to be CEL members or customers of another organisation.
What our resources cover
- How energy consumption is measured and shown on a bill.
- Unit rates, standing charges, taxes and contract terminology.
- The differences between household and business customer protections.
- Supplier failure, billing problems and records to keep.
- Understanding unnecessary consumption and general energy-efficiency principles.
Our educational boundary
Our guides use general examples. CEL does not review individual business accounts or premises, negotiate contracts, recommend suppliers or provide tailored savings plans.
We do not accept commissions or referral fees, make commercial introductions or pass reader details to businesses for marketing. Accessing educational resources does not make a business eligible for grant funding.
